Ricco Deruta and Raffaellesco are the two patterns most characteristic of Deruta. Ricco is also inspired by the great painters of the Renaissance: Pinturicchio, Perugino and Raphael. We take the acanthus leaves of the frescoes and transform them into swirls of leaves and flowers where blue predominates with intense touches of orange, yellow and copper green to enliven the effect. In ancient this pattern was used on plate rims to ornament portraits of ladies and knights. Today it has been transformed into a complete decoration in its own right and has taken on its own personality to become one of the favourites from the huge repertoire of Deruta decorations.
